2018 Volta Region Best Farmer dies ahead of Farmers’ Day

A 46-year-old best farmer awardee for the 2018 National Farmers’ Day celebration to be held today, Friday, 7 December at Tamale in the Northern Region, has died.

The deceased, Mr Issah Nayawu, is one of the award winners from the Volta Region billed to receive a national accolade at the event tomorrow.

He died on Tuesday, 4 December 2018.

Class News’ Northern regional correspondent, Mohammed Gadafi reported that Mr Nayawu died after a short illness.

Mr Davies Narh Korboe, the Chairman of the National Farmers Award Winners Association confirmed the death to Class News.

He expressed his condolence to the bereaved family and added that the award of the deceased would be given to his family.

Mr Korboe advised the public and farmers to develop the habit of routine medical checkup.

“I was called that one of the awardees has passed on. May his soul rest in peace. I don’t want to speculate, I don’t know what happened but what I can say is that our lives do not belong to us and we don’t know when we will be going. We should regularly go and check our health status,” he said.

Mr Nayawu has been buried in line with Islamic custom.
