As part of measures to fight the spread of deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Akatsi South District Assembly in the Volta Region has successfully completed fumigation of all markets under the district in ongoing mass fumigation exercise nationwide under the Ministry of Local Government.

The spraying exercise, which came off Saturday was spearheaded by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Leo-Nelson Adzidogah with missive support from his men, without any incident.

The exercise, which started from the Akatsi mini-market, was extended to stores along the main streets, before moving to the central market. From there, the team moved to Avenorpedo market, Avenorpeme market and eventually ended it at Xavi market.

In attendance to supervise the exercise was Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Rev. Johnson Avuletey. Also present on the ground to provide total security and ensure the exercise was carried out without any hindrance, were personnel from various security set up under the district.

They include; officers from the Police service, the Fire Service, Ambulance Service as well as officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) as well as some staff of Zoomlion.

In an interview with the media, the DCE said the Akatsi South district is extremely grateful to government for benefitting from the spraying exercise.

He said, his outfit is strictly adhering to President Akufo Addo’s directives and will continue to enforce them, especially the social distancing directive.

According to him, the assembly is indeed intensifying public education of the electorates on the virus, about the need to ensure regular washing of hands with soap under running water.
