Akufo-Addo completing projects your “miserable” gov’t abandoned – NR NPP tackles Mahama

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region is demanding an unqualified apology from former President John Mahama for what they say are reckless and consistent lies peddled throughout his tour of the region.

The party, at a news conference on Monday, 8 October 2018 addressed by the Regional Communication Officer, Mr Mohammed Issah, condemned Mr Mahama for accusing the Akufo-Addo administration of abandoning projects that were started under his government.

“John Mahama has soon forgotten that the Northern Region he flew across throughout his rule is not changed. The roads you plied today were never imported from Dubai or Bahrain to the north. They existed under your miserable watch,” he stated.

Mr Issah further challenged the former president to provide evidence to back his claim that roads that started under his regime have been abandoned by the current government.

He rather accused Mr Mahgama and the NDC of diverting some funds meant for the Fulfuso-Sawla road, into constructing the Busunu-Daboya stretch.

He said the Larabanga-Sawla end of the Fulfuso-Sawla road has deteriorated just after a few years of its completion.

Mr Issah added that the situation is replicated in so many parts of the same route and, therefore, warned the former president to desist from provoking the people.

“Is it not so pitiful and disingenuous for a supposed statesman, in the name of petty partisan politics, to make such comments in the manner you did Mr former president? Were you not the same John Mahama who, on Wednesday, the 3rd of October inspected the construction of the Salaga Hospital that was abandoned under your watch? The contractor is currently busy on site and working towards the completion under His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo,” he said.

The NPP Communication Director said the Akufo-Addo government will complete all projects that began under the NDC.

He disclosed that the Mpaha and Sang Community Day schools that were abandoned under the NDC are currently admitting students for the free Senior High School (SHS) programme.
