Akufo-Addo gives retired Dep. IGP 1-yr contract

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has granted a one-year contract extension to retired Deputy Inspector General of Police James Oppong-Boanuh.

COP Oppong-Boanuh, who turned 60 years on Tuesday and must retire, according to the civil service law and the constitution, was appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police two weeks ago.

There were suspicions that his elevation was part of moves to get him to replace his boss, David Asante-Apeatu, who is billed to leave office on 14 August 2019.

A letter signed by Nana Asante Bediatuo, Secretary to the president, said COP Oppong-Boanuh can stay on for one more year as Deputy IGP.

The letter with the title: ‘One Year Contract of Service as Deputy Inspector General of Police’, reads: “With reference to your letter dated 17Th September 2018, and a Memo dated 3rd October 2018, from the Minister for the Interior on the subject matter above. I am pleased to inform you that the President of the Republic has granted you a one-year contract service as Deputy Director-General of the Police effective 8th October 2018 to 7th October 2019.”

Eeebeii! What at all is happening in this land of our death?(or is it the land of our birth?). The youth cant get jobs and yet people who have gotten to their retirement age are given contracts to continually stay in office! When I wander and wonder about it, I cannot understand!😎
