BECE begins in Adaklu, DCE calls for 80 per cent pass

This year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has started smoothly in the Adaklu District with the District Chief Executive, Mr Phanuel Kadey urging the candidates to score 80 per cent pass.

The DCE who was touring some examination centres in the District with the District Director of Education asked the candidates to approach the examination with confidence and make the District proud.

The District placed first in BECE in Volta region in 2017 scoring 89.73 per cent pass but slacked in 2018 to fifth position in the region with 40.43 per cent pass.

At the Adaklu Waya Examination Centre “B”, Mr Kadey challenged the candidates to restore the 2017 past glory of the District and get their first choice schools to enjoy free Senior High School.

At the Centre, all 205 candidates made up of 122 males and 83 females sat for the examination.

Mr George Dzorvor, Supervisor at the Centre told the Ghana News Agency that all materials arrived on time and the examination started on schedule.

Mr Julius Banitsi, the Supervisor at the Adaklu Abuadi Examination Centre “A”, said out of 280 candidates, 276, made up of 148 males and 128 females were writing the examination with three females and a male absent.

A partially blind candidate at the Centre appealed for a magnifying glass to be able to write the examination.

Mr Francis Yaw Agbemadi, the District Director of Education said the exercise was going on smoothly and confident the District would top the region this year.

He commended Mr Kwami Agbodza, Member of Parliament for the area for providing 300 bags of sachet water for the candidates and also expressed appreciation to the MP and the DCE for providing fuel to the Education Directorate for monitoring.
