Boy, 8 rescued from drowning as heavy rains leave most part of Ho flooded

An eight-year old boy was on Friday afternoon rescued from drowning after a continuous one-and-half hours of rain left most part of the Volta Regional capital, Ho flooded.

The worst hit area was around the Volta Regional Hospital, Trafalgar, where the main Ho-Aflao road was cut-off.

Lorlornyo FM’s Michael Segbefia who reported from the scene said no vehicle could pass – either from Aflao to the town or vice versa – as flooding water with strong currency run across the road.

He said the boy, who had closed from school in his attempt to pass through the water was swept of his feet, but was rescued and rushed to the nearby hospital, Trafalgar.

Meanwhile, drivers are resorting to alternative routes to get to their destinations.

As at the time of filing this report, more clouds had gathered, and there are fears Ho may experience its worst flooding in years.
