Challenges faced en route to becoming MCE will put me on my toes – Hohoe MCE

The newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Hohoe, Teddy Andrew Ofori says the challenges he faced on his journey to becoming MCE will put him on his toes while in office.

Mr Ofori was twice rejected, but sailed through for the third time on Thursday polling 41 votes out of 44 assembly members who voted, representing 93 percent.

Prior to his confirmation, some persons within the municipality vehemently opposed his nomination.

But speaking after he was sworn in as Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Teddy Ofori described the journey as a tiresome one, and called on all to put differences which were developed during this journey behind them and forge ahead for development.

“Today is a very great day. It is the end of a very tiresome journey. We are all aware of what happened. But what is important is that we have succeeded and the victory is for the people of Hohoe. The victory is a sign that we are yearning for development. I want all of us to put what has happened in the past behind us and let’s forge ahead in unity. I know the problems I had in this journey is going to put me on my toes while in office,” he said.

He pledged to work with the traditional authorities for development of the municipality.

He said the municipality abounds in numerous resources and called for unity in developing them for the benefit of the area.

Inviting issues bordering on development of the municipality to his office, Mr. Ofori said his office will not play partisan politics.

“My doors will be opened to everybody, no partisan politics in my office. Provided you are coming with a genuine mind, with a public concern, my doors will be opened to you. Let’s work together to develop Hohoe.”

He expressed gratitude to President Akufo Addo for giving him the opportunity to serve the country in the capacity of Municipal Chief Executive for Hohoe, and promised not to relent in his efforts to carry out his responsibilities.
