COVID-19: Ghana records 27 cases, second death confirmed

COVID-19

Ghana has recorded additional three cases to increase the number of people infected with COVID-19 to 27.

This was confirmed by the Ghana Health Service.

It is unclear whether the three cases were all imported or not.

An update on its website pointed out that a total of 521 suspected cases have been tested for COVID-19 by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR).

All the remaining 25 confirmed cases are receiving treatment in isolation, the Service added.

The death is believed to be an 84-year-old Ghanaian woman who returned to Ghana from the USA recently.

So far, 20 of the confirmed cases are of Ghanaian nationality, the majority of whom returned to the country from affected countries.

The seven other nationalities are from Norway, Lebanon, China, France and UK.

Globally, more than 375,000 cases have been recorded with about 16,361 death.
