Delta Force has over 7,000 card bearing members now -Delta Force Chair

Chairman of the pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) militant group, Delta Force says the group has over 7,000 card bearing members in the country.

According to Salisu Kum, the vigilante group population has tremendously increased from 4,000 to 7000 membership over the few years.

Speaking Wednesday on Adom FM’s Burning Issues programme hosted by Listowell Kwadwo Fordjour after the release of it eight members, Salisu Kum said its group population which has increased from 4000 to 7, 000 consists of carpenters, drivers, farmers, auto mechanics and among other professionals.

“We have over 7000 membership as a group and we organize regular meetings on every Saturday to discuss welfare issues of members” the militant group Chairman stated.

On Wednesday, a Kumasi Circuit Court discharged eight members of NPP-affiliated militia group, Delta Force, who were being tried after they disrupted court proceeding of 13 of their members on April 6, 2017.

The Kumasi Circuit Court discharged the suspects, Wednesday, for lack of evidence.

The 13 were part of 21 men arrested by the police after they attacked the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, George Agyei.

The men had said Mr. Agyei did not deserve the position because he played no role in the struggle to bring the NPP into power.

They wanted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to appoint their leader who was instrumental in the NPP’s 2016 elections campaign.

But commenting on the judgment by the court on the released of it members, Salisu Kum said he is not surprised that the court released them because the 8 members were wrongfully arrested by the police.

Meanwhile, MP for Asuogyaman, Ampem Nyarko said the President Akufo-Addo should show his competence as a civil right activist in the Delta 8 case, adding that if the police and the AG’s office need evidence they will get it from the police officials who were in the court when the group disrupted the court proceedings.
