E. P. Church resumes communal worship Sunday

The Standing Committee of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC), Ghana, at the weekend directed its congregations to fully resume communal worship with immediate effect.

“With reference to the President’s 18th address to the nation on COVID-19 pandemic and the lifting of the ban on all activities including Church gatherings, the Standing Committee after careful deliberations, therefore, deemed it appropriate for all congregations to resume communal worship.”

This was contained in a letter issued by the Church titled “Ease of CPVID-19 restrictions and full resumption of Church activities in EPCG Congregations,” and sighted by the GNA.

It was signed by Reverend Elisha E. Attu, Acting Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church, and addressed to all Presbytery Moderators, Pastors, Catechists, musicians, and sessions of the Church.

The letter also directed that all congregations should revert to the original liturgical order of the Church.

It said all groups in the Church should also resume their activities including their various participation during Church services.

The letter continued that ban on Church related gatherings including rehearsals, workshops, seminars, retreats, and congresses were also lifted in compliance with the COVID-19 safety protocols.

It urged all leaders and members to continue to adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols as directed by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The letter asked the Church’s Health Task Forces at all levels to continue to ensure strict adherence to the directives.

It said the online Church services remained operational, where applicable.

It also urged members to continue observing the basic hygiene measures and protect themselves from being infected amid the pandemic.

“The Standing Committee will continue to monitor the situation and issue further directives as and when the need be,” the letter said.
