Fire destroys Tamale UDS lecture hall

Fire Tuesday afternoon gutted parts of the Bank of Ghana block for the School of Allied Science of the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale.
The fire which started around 4pm destroyed one of the lecture halls of the block.
The timely intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) prevented the fire from spreading other parts of the block.
No casualty was recorded as the university is on recess.
Two of the students who were present at the time of the accident had all their personal belongings burnt by the fire.
Among the items destroyed in the lecture hall by the fire are four air conditioners, 49 desks and six ceiling fans.
The Northern Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS, Assistant Divisional Officer, Mr. Paul Opoku Aikins said the fire station received a distress call at 4.07pm on Tuesday and arrived at the scene of the fire at.27pm.
He said the team managed to extinguish the fire at 4.45pm.
He said the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
