Hard Times: Churches broke; can’t even raise GHC50 collection – Yammin

Joseph Yammin, a former Deputy Coordinator in Charge of Operations at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the erstwhile John Mahama administration, has stated that times are indeed hard for Ghanaians under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

Speaking on Pure Fm in Kumasi on Wednesday, April 24, Joseph Yammin recounted a friend’s experience at church on Easter Sunday where during a fund raising, the church in entity could not meet the targeted amount.

“I have an audio on my phone concerning a fundraising that took place in one of the known churches in Kumasi…and I tell you, people couldn’t afford fifty Ghana cedis. Kwame, this is one of the churches that could raise 500 Ghana cedis some years ago. Ask yourself; what has changed?”

“Kwame [pointing to the host] times are hard! We’re in very difficult times. Christians can’t even show gratitude to God with money. It’s that bad! He lamented.

Yammin adds to the increasing number of Ghanaians who are have complained about the current state of the economy including actress Yvonne Nelson, self-acclaimed Dancehall King , Shata Wale and academician Ransford Gyampo who are calling on the Akufo-Addo government to fix the hardships facing Ghanaians.

Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has admitted the economy of Ghana is going through some trying times but promised better days after its exit from the albatross IMF programme

He has however, dismissed concerns that these difficulties amounts to a crisis, assuring all and sundry that the government is on top of the situation.
