Ho: Court remands three into police custody for possessing handguns

A Ho Circuit Court has remanded into police custody, three men arrested for illegally possessing handguns.







The trio, Nervis Otu Laryea, aged 33, Ebenezer Osei, 38, and Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, 37, were arrested on July 06, 2021, by a Rapid Deployment Patrol Force team on the Kpando-Have road in the Volta Region, Riding in a Toyota Corolla Saloon car.

The police team found the items after a deep search. They also found three foreign made pistols and 40 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Also in their possession of the suspects were two laptop computers and a total of 21 brand new mobile phones, each with a price tag.

Police secured a remand order from a Ho Magistrate Court to aid investigations and the suspects were afterwards placed on a public identification parade, and later arraigned before the Ho Circuit Court presided over by Felix Datsomor.

Lawyer for the accused persons was not in court and so prosecution prayed the Court to remand them to a later date, to assist further investigations and added that one of the suspects had previously jumped bail in Tema.

They are to reappear on August 17, 2021 for their pleas to be taken.
