Hohoe Church of Pentecost Area Head admonishes public to protect environment

The Hohoe Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Reverend Yaw Adjei- Kwarteng has admonished the public to protect the environment.

Speaking at the launch of the church’s environmental protection campaign last Saturday dubbed, “Environmental Care Campaign”, at Hohoe he lamented about the indiscriminate throwing of rubbish into gutters indicating it blocks water ways and causes floods.

He said it is time the church plays its role in the nation’s campaign to keep the environment clean hence the need for the programme.

The Head Pastor of Pentecost Church, kpando, Reverend Sampson Nkrumah, said even though government is making efforts to curb environmental degradation, the rate at which the environment is being degraded calls for on public involvement in eradicating the menace.

He believes awareness creation on the situation among others is a solution and called on parents to instill the habit of environmental protection into their wards.

The durbar was followed up with a clean-up exercise at the Hohoe Main lorry station, with participants displaying placards, some of which read ,“don’t dump refuse into water bodies”, “keep Ghana clean”.
