I don’t mind taking GHC 500 for a show – KODA

One of the difficult aspects of gospel music is marrying the ministry with business but KODA seems not perturbed by this.

Born Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, the versatile gospel artiste has intimated that he has no problem with the business aspect of his ministry because he does not put money first.

Speaking to Accra FM’s Andy Favoured, he said his position on money is so resolute that even his manager cannot influence him to charge a higher fee for a programme if he thinks otherwise.

“I don’t want to prevent some people from accessing me so I always try not to be too expensive. If it becomes necessary that I should take GH¢ 500 to minister at a programme, I wouldn’t mind doing that and my manager cannot object to it because I feel everybody must be blessed by what God has given me,” he told Andy Favoured.

He recounted that he once went with his band to a programme and after the ministration each bandsman had only GH¢ 15 from the money they were paid. He said they were not worried about the scanty fee because they knew they had blessed souls with their ministration.

KODA, who is noted for his opinionated songs against negative church practices, is currently out with a cover version of Travis Greene’s song ‘Made a Way’ that features his wife Ewurama.
