I won’t follow public pressure to invite local players to Black Stars – Kwesi Appiah

New Ghana Coach Kwesi Appiah says he will not adhere to public pressure to invite local players into the Black Stars team.

The 56-year-old was unveiled at the Ghana Football Association secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.

Appiah who has been monitoring the Ghana Premier League is expected to give good opportunities to home-based players who have been overlooked in recent times.

According to the former Al Khartoum manager he will only invited local-based players on merit.

“I want to bring a local player who I will be sure that he can bring success to the team. I won’t call for the sake of it,” he told the media.

“I believe every player in Ghana has got a chance in the Black Stars team, players both home and abroad will be invited based on merit.

“If you are a local player and you merit a call-up, why not, you will be invited.”

The Coach is expected to name his squad for Ghana’s upcoming international friendly against Mexico next month.
