Juventus hit 3 past Barcelona

Barcelona have suffered another defeat in the fist leg of the knock out stages at the UEFA Champions League.

This time the Catalan giants lost 3 – 0 to current Italian leaders Juventus.

It was a night of humiliation and frustration for Barcelona, whose efforts amounted to nothing in search of goals let alone a consolation or an away goal.

Juventus fetched the first goal of the night as early as the 7th minute through Paulo Dybala. The 23-year old Argentine, after receiving a pass from Juan Cuadrado, turned quickly and released a curling left-footed shot to beat Marc-Andre ter Stegen from close range.

The now-darling boy of Juventus fans scored his second, 15 minutes later, again with a curling shot from just outside the 18-yard box, slotting home from the near post.

Barcelona enjoyed a lion’s share of possession, but the quartet of captain Andres Iniesta, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi could not break the defensive set-up of Massimiliano Allegri.

Dani Alves, Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bunucci and Alex Sandro provided solid shield for Gianluigi Buffon.

Chiellini added the third goal of the night in the second half, rising highest to connect a corner in the 55th minute.

The result means Barcelona would need to produce some magic, just as they did to overturn a 4-0 deficit with Paris Staint-Germain at the round of 16.

But their leaking defence look suspect, having conceded two goals away to less-fancied Malaga in the domestic league.

The second leg is slated for April 19 at the Camp Nou.
