Kpantech launches 60th anniversary

The Kpando Technical Institute (Kpantech) last Saturday, launched its 60th Anniversary under the theme “Technical and Vocational education and training a response to the challenge of youth unemployment and skills for industrialisation”

The principal of the school Mr Isaac N.K Bimpeh noted that it is the task of Technical Institutions to make the theme of the celebration possible.

He said Kpantech has expanded its programs from four to fourteen as part of the achievements of the institution.

The Guest of honour, Della Sowah Member of Parliament for kpando constituency advised the students to disabuse their minds that technical education is meant for the weak brains but instead be focused in their learning.

She also told the public to consider them as genius because they can only look into complex machine to detect faults, adding they have the potential to end unemployment since they acquire skills to employ.

Hon. Della Sowah further asked the students to give good image to the school, instead of being noted for causing trouble.

The Guest speaker for the launching, professor. Emmanuel K. Sakyi interim vice chancellor of Ho Technical University said availability of jobs is a major feature of every individual.

However many young graduates who leave school with the hope of finding good jobs usually get disappointed.

He said parents are also a contributing factor to the unemployment menace as many of them prefer their children doing white collar jobs at the expense of bricks laying and other technical or vocational careers

Kpando Technical Institute was established in 1957 with an initial intake of 70 in 1956 to 1,595 in 2016 out of the enrolment 180 are females. The 60th anniversary celebration comes off in November this year.
