Lorlornyo Fm Broadcasting Training center this morning held its 11th graduation ceremony under the theme, “spread of fake news: the role of the media.
Eighteen students, made of 12 females and ten males passed out after successfully completing a six month programme in broadcasting.
In an address, the coordinator of LBTC, Eric Mawunyo Deh congratulated the graduands for completing the programme successfully.
He said the graduands while under training were taught to adhere to the tenets of journalism and admonished them not to depart from what they have been taught.
He said admission of new students into the institution is currently ongoing and called on interested persons to pick up application forms at either the front desk of Lorlornyo or Kaleawo fm.
Delivering the key note address, educationist and politician, Mr. Paul Addo, applauded management of Lorlornyo Fm for establishing the institution which has produced broadcasters who are working towards the development of the nation.
He said fake news invites division, unnecessary tension and panic and called for a collective effort to nip it in the bud.
Advising the media to work within the framework of the law, he called on the national media commission and the Ghana Journalist Association to sanction media outfits which will be found culpable of spreading fake news.
He admonished the graduands to exhibit professionalism and avoid the tendency of bribery and corruption in the discharge of their duties.
Graduands who distinguished themselves in various fields were recognised with Benjamin Ohene Boateng adjudged the overall best student.
