National Board for Small Scale Industries supports apprentices with start-up kits

The Hohoe office of the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI), with support from MasterCard has supported apprentices who took part in a three year training programme with business startup kits.

The startup kits which include sewing machines, hair dryers, shampoos and hair conditioners are meant to cushion the apprentice’s start-up their individual business.

The beneficiaries who were 20 in number undertook training in dressmaking and hairdressing.

Addressing the granduands at a ceremony held on the 21st of October 2020, at the conference hall of the Hohoe Municipal Assembly, the Presiding Member of the assembly, Chris Dzumador admonished the beneficiaries to use the start-up kits judiciously.

Mr. Chris Dzumador further advised the beneficiaries to cultivate the habit of saving in order to grow their businesses.

He encouraged the youth to embrace vocational and technical training which presents lots of employment opportunities while admonishing them not to view the area as one for school drop outs and unintelligent individuals.

Interacting with Lorlornyo News on the sidelines of the programme, Chairman of the Association of Small Scale Industries(ASSI) Reverend Williams Klutse, appealed to government to support tutors who trained the graduands for free so as to motivate them.

He appealed to the Hohoe Municipal Assembly to work hand in hand with ASSI so as to move the municipality forward.
