Octogenarian dies of burns

Ibrahim Quansah, 85, sadly lost his life in a fire set to clear a parcel of land at Anweaso.

The deceased is said to have gone to the land, which he leased out to one Abdul Salem for farming, to inspect the land without Abdul Salem’s knowledge.

Sergeant (Sgt) Francis Gomado, the Eastern Regional Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, told Ghana News Agency that Salem set the fire on the farm unbeknown that the deceased was around.

He said the police found the body of the deceased lying in a supine position with his back, legs and hands partly burnt.

Sergeant Gomado said the body has been sent to the St. Dominic Hospital at Akwatia for autopsy.
