Olympics put injunction on Sunday’s Ghana Premier League start

Great Olympics have served the Ghana Football Association with an injunction, Monday, seeking to halt the start of the 2017/18 premier league season.

The league was scheduled to kick off on February 11 but with the injunction, the start date is very likely to be postponed.

“I was at GFA secretariat this afternoon to hand over the injunction letter and prevent them from holding anything related to the start of the new season until all cases are cleared,” Cheif Executive of the club, Commodore Mensah told Goal.com.

”The [GFA] General Secretary took the letter on the Association’s behalf. We have two cases against Bechem United and Elmina Sharks and that can determine our fate in the Premier League. As I’m talking to you right now, we’ve not been relegated and so there can’t be plans for the new season without us.

”They can’t hold the launch of the new season or announce the clubs to participate without addressing our case. Also, the association can’t hold its congress and discuss the Premier League or clubs that have been promoted or relegated until the case is attended and all parties satisfied,” he added.

Olympics are crying foul after their protests against unqualified players fielded by Bechem United and Elmina Sharks were thrown out despite having proof.

The disciplinary committee of the FA annulled both cases which according to the constitution merit a deduction of six points.

And Olympics will not be relegated if points are deducted. Bechem, instead, will be demoted to the second tier.
