One dead in Tamale gas explosion

One person has been killed in a gas explosion at Lamashegu Industrial area in Tamale in the Northern Region.

The victim, according to Adom News’ Illiasu Abdul Rauf was burnt beyond recognition.

He reported that three people were also injured after a gas cylinder exploded.

The three are reported to be in a critical condition and have been rushed to the Tamale Hospital for treatment.

It is not yet clear what caused the explosion but reports say the gas cylinder was being used by a welder when it suddenly exploded in the area near the Guinness Ghana depot – a walking distance from the SADA office.

Illiasu Abdul Rauf noted that several items including kiosks have been destroyed.

He said the explosion also ripped off some electrical cables in the area which has cut power supply to the area for the time being.
