Peki SHTS Board tasked to ensure discipline among students

    • Peki SHTS Board tasked to ensure discipline among studentsBy Caleb Kuleke, GNA    “You are being appointed at a time when our Second Cycle Institutions face numerous challenges some of which are; indiscipline among students, downward trend in academic performance, the practice of occultism,… but we believe that you have what it takes to tackle the challenges facing the school and move it to the next level,” she said. The new members of the Board are; Mr Frank Theophilus Dei (Chairman), Mrs Dzifa Azumah, Mr Geoffery Jackson Bissi, Ms Enyonam Afi Amafuga, Ms Justina B. Ziemeh, Mr Vincent Ametefe, Mr Mark Dzebu, Mr John Nimo, Mr Alexander Addo, Mr Samuel Ayibor, Ms Elizabeth Ohenewa Sese, Mr Franklin Botsyoe and Ms Florence Senam Kuatuvor. She said one of the cardinal objectives of educational institutions including Peki SHTS, was to ensure that students graduated with flying colours and urged the Board to put measures in place to ensure that the general performance of the School rose to a level that would guarantee the entry of students into tertiary institutions after completion. She urged the students to take their studies seriously and make good use of their time, because nobody desired to fail, but failure would come when one did not plan well and work hard.Mr Vincent Ametefe, Headmaster of the School said though the School had chalked several successes, challenges such as inadequate classroom block, beds, dining hall, furniture and lack of science laboratories, workshop for Electrical and Visual Arts students, staff bungalows, computers and duty post vehicle for the Headmaster were major challenges. Deiga Kwadzo Dei, Paramount Chief of Peki Traditional Area, called on stakeholders in the educational sector to work effectively to ensure improvement on the performance of Second Cycle schools in the country.GNA
    • Mr Frank Theophilus Dei, Chairman of the Reconstituted Board, said the Board would do all it could to address the myriad of challenges facing the School and improve academic performance.
    • He said the School was currently putting up a shed, to be used as classroom and dining hall and appealed to government, philanthropist and other benevolent organisations to support the School to address its challenges.
    • “Therefore profitable use of time should be of great concern to you because a very important route to success is time management,” Madam Amafuga added.
    • Madam Amafuga said it was imperative for the Board, staff and students to have effective cooperation to ensure peace and tranquility, saying “when peace prevails, everybody’s attention would be focused on how to fulfil the School’s mission and vision.”
    • The Regional Director congratulated members of the Board and urged them to bring their rich knowledge and experiences to bear to strengthen, guide and direct management of the School to achieve academic excellence and to also promote moral uprightness among the students for national development.
    • Madam Amafuga who said this in a speech read on her behalf by Madam Janet Agbotse from the Regional Education Directorate, at the inauguration of the newly reconstituted Board of Governors of the School, stressed that academic success could not be achieved in any institution without discipline.
