People of Akpafu- Mempeasem raise funds for road rehabilitation project

The Chiefs and People of Akpafu Mempeasem, a community in the proposed SALL district of the Oti Region last Saturday raised 25,256.00 Ghana cedis at a fundraising ceremony towards   the rehabilitation of a 1.5 kilometer township road project.

The ceremony was dubbed “development in Unity”.

The Assembly Member for the Area, Asasenkansa said several attempts to get governments to work on the road proved futile hence the decision by the community to take the initiative.

He called for support to rehabilitate the only health center which now operates as a CHPS compound in the community.

The Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, Adrew Teddy applauded the community for their initiative and called on others to emulate the people of Akpafu -Mempeasm before calling for assistance from government.

He also called on the community to do away with

chieftaincy disputes, and avoid poor attitudes towards work in order to develop.

He donated five street lights and 100 bags of cement to the community while, Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu donated 100 street lights with  his aide also donating 10 trips of sand towards the realization of the project.

Funds for the project which is budgeted at GHC 1,057,500.00 will be raised through voluntary contribution.
