Real Madrid record vital away win against Bayern Munich

Spanish giants Real Madrid produced a master-class performance to beat 10-man Bayern Munich 2-1 in Germany.

The visitors conceded a goal through a blistering header from Arturo Vidal, 25 minutes into the game. The Chilean, then missed a penalty after right wing back Daniel Carvajal was wrongfully adjudged to have handled Franck Ribery’s shot.

Javier Martinez let his team down after he was sent off for attracting two yellow cards, in quick succession. The makeshift centre back stripped down Cristiano Ronaldo after he had lost the ball, going into the referees book in the 58th minute. Shortly after, he clipped the pacey Portuguese through a sliding challenge for a second bookable offence.

Ronaldo who was mobile on the night pulled even just two minutes into the second half, tapping in Carvajal’s right out-swinger cross in a mid-volley to beat “saviour” of the night Manuel Neuer.

The German shot-stopper got finally exposed after his heroics; again Ronaldo, recording his 100th European goal, stamped the ball through his legs after receiving a left-footed cross from substitute Marco Asensio.

Real could have made it three or four goals enjoying free flow football shutting Bayern’s fluid attacking play in their own backyard.

Having scored two away goals, Zinedine Zidane will be the happier between the two coaches when the second leg is played in Spain next week.
