The First Trustee of the Hohoe Branch of Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Mr. Mathew Kodjo Agble has called on drivers to recognize all road users as the Easter festive season draws closer to prevent accidents.
He said the road also belongs to other motorists and pedestrians and expressed disgust at the manner in which some drivers abuse road users.
Speaking to Lorlornyo News, Mr. Agble admonished drivers to stay away from alcohol while on duty since alcohol negatively affects sense of judgment.
He also called on them to drive at speeds they are very comfortable with and remain focus while behind the steering wheel.
“Drivers must remain focus when driving. There are drivers who play loud music while driving, how will you know if something is wrong with your vehicle? That is not professional”.
The veteran driver advised drivers to inspect their vehicles, paying attention to their braking system, wheels and electronics before starting business of the day.
“You don’t wake up in the morning, jump into your vehicle and start driving. You must inspect your vehicle, your breaks, your wheels and your electrical system”.
For drivers to increase and maintain their customers, Mr. Agble charged them to practice good customer relationship and always return items left in their vehicles by passengers to station storerooms for collection by owners.
