See all 94 MPs4JM who say he ‘stands tall’ among all

A group of 94 out of 106 Minority MPs supporting former president John Mahama, has issued a statement welcoming his official declaration of intention to run for the flag bearer slot of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) again.

The statement issued on Thursday, 23 August 2018 shortly after Mr Mahama also sent a letter to the leadership of the NDC informing them of his intention, said: “As Members of Parliament, we would like to express our profound gratitude to His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama for hearkening to the cries of our constituents, which we presented to him when we met him four months ago. Our constituents had one simple message – President Mahama should avail himself of the people of Ghana to salvage the sinking ship under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Today, he has heeded the clarion call of the people and we are grateful.”

“We hold the humble considered opinion that given the benefit of hindsight and the privilege of having learnt from our previous shortcomings, the NDC led by John Dramani Mahama would present Ghanaians a credible alternative to this abysmal government with workable and tangible policy alternatives that would alleviate the suffering of the Ghanaian masses, restore confidence in our economy and set Ghana on the path of socio-infrastructural development,” the statement added.

Mr Mahama will be running against 10 other aspirants, including: Former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah; former Trades and Industries Minister, Ekwow Spio Garbrah; former Vice-Chancellor of the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi; Cape Coast South MP, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan; and PNDC/NDC stalwart Goosie Tanoh.

The rest are: Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin; Handyman Stephen Atubiga, private legal practitioner Elipklim Agbemava, Mr David Doste Kwame Kuwadah and a banker and oil and gas consultant, Nurideen Iddrisu.

The party will be electing a flag bearer by December this year ahead of the 2020 polls.
