St Francis College of Education graduates 488 students at 12th congregation

St. Francis College of Education, Hohoe, over the weekend graduated 448 teacher trainees with a call on them to impart society with the knowledge they have acquired.

A Professor of Sociology at the Lorain County Community College, USA, Professor Kwaku Obosu-Mensah, said the knowledge they have acquired will be useless if it does not benefit society positively.

Professor Kwaku Obosu-Mensah, who was the guest speaker called on the graduants to engage their pupils on the effects of instant justice on society.

Principal of the college, Mr. Raphael Kodzo Kwashie, said this year’s congregation recorded 14 first class honors, the highest in the history of the college, and attributed it to the sacrifices and hard work of staff and management of the College.

He mentioned the extension of the schools fence wall project by 310 meters, purchase of 250 chairs for lecture halls, rewiring of two storey science laboratory and E- learning center as some projects undertaken by the college with its internally generated funds.

He said work on an eight unit staff flat and campus roads has stalled for about three years because the contractor has not been paid.

Mr Kwashie appealed to stakeholders and the alumni groups of the College to support the College with a sick bay or clinic to address the immediate health needs of students.

157 other students obtained second class upper division, 167 had second class lower division while 77 had third class with 38 obtaining passes.

The occasion was on the theme, “Essential Elements of Quality Teacher Education in Ghana: The role of Stakeholders.
