St Theresa’s College of Education holds 12th graduation ceremony

Eight graduands of the St. Theresa’s College of Education obtained first class honors during the 12th graduation ceremony held last Saturday

One hundred and thirteen also obtained second class upper, with 147 receiving second class lower, while 75 also received third class and 40 with passes.

Principal of the college, Ms Sophia Adzoa Micah, said the result is an improvement over what the college had over the years.

She said despite the achievements of the college on the academic front its teaching staff is inadequate and appealed to government to grant financial clearance so that the college can engage additional staff.

She identified frequent power outages as a major challenge facing the college saying it disrupts studies and appealed to the energy minister, John Peter Amewu, who was present at the event to provide them with an alternative source of power.

Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu who was the guest of honour for the occasion promised to complete the school’s fence wall which he started constructing when he was the Hohoe District Chief Executive.

He also promised to construct an auditorium and provide the college with a generator set to deal with power to fix its power problems. 

Dean, Faculty of Educational Foundation, College of Education Studies, University of Cape Coast, Professor  Eric Nyako-Sampson, called on teachers to familiarize themselves with the National Teachers Standards guidelines to enable them compete as qualified and capable teachers  across the world.Madam Okah Deborah Mawutah was adjudged the overall best graduating student out of a total of 383 graduands who received certificates in Diploma in Basic Education, The occasion was on the theme: “Quality Teacher Education; The role of Colleges of Education in promoting the National Teacher Standards in the 21st century Teacher.”
