Stop encroaching on our lands – HEPSS Headmaster cries

The Headmaster of Hohoe Evangelical Presbyterian Senior High School (HEPSS) Cephas Kudjoe Edusei has warned the public against encroachment on the school’s lands.
He said the land on which the school is situated was donated by seven families of the Gbi state under the supervision of the then Paramount Chief of the Gbi land, Togbega Gabusu V in 1969.
He said the Evangelical Presbyterian Church which acquired the land compensated the donors with kegs of palm wine, bottles of schnapps and a cash amount of 600 Ghana Cedis.
“They were seven families that donated the land. The event was supervised by Togbega Gabusu V. They signed documents after which a ram was slaughted. Kegs of palm wine, bottles of schnapps and an amount of 600 Ghana cedis was given to them. The land was acquired by the E.P Church,” he said.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Lorlornyo News, Mr Edusei said the school had documents to back the claim and called on family heads who detested the fact to take legal action rather than selling the land to unsuspecting buyers.
He said: “We have documents to show. Some signed and others thumb printed. So, if there is any family which claims their land was taken without compensation it is for them to prove it. Why were others compensated and they were not. There is adequate documentation at the Lands Commission in Hohoe and in Ho. I want to warn Hohoe people, anyone who buys HEPSS lands does that at their own risk”.
Mr. Edusei also threatened legal action against individuals who purchase lands belonging to the school.
He appealed to old students of HEPSS, the Parent Teacher Association and government to assist the school to construct a wall around its land.
