Trotro driver killed by land guards over fare

A 52-year-old commercial driver, Yaw Alebey has been killed by land guards at Opeikuma in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

An eyewitness narrating the incident to Adom News’ Kofi Adjei said, the land guards stoned him with concrete blocks and inflicted severe cutlass wounds on him after a short disagreement over transport fare.

Wife of the deceased, Rosemond Alebey said the land guards joined the trotro bus and refused to pay the lorry fare.

She noted that her husband in an attempt to collect his money incurred the wrath of the land guard who lynched him to death.

Son of the deceased, Emmanuel Dawson who confirmed the incident said the negligence of the Kasoa police led to his father’s death.

According to him, when the land guards started misbehaving, he reported the issue to the Kasoa Police station for help but they failed to show up.

“I was told land guards have killed my father. I visited the scene and it was true, I don’t know how the death came about but I was told he had misunderstanding with the land guards. These wicked guys are really disturbing our peace here and we need government to act fast else we will face them boot for boot” he warned.
