Alhaji Baba Alhassan, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group leader and prime suspect in the attack of the CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has been put before a Tamale Circuit Court.

He was arraigned Friday morning.

Baba was arrested by the Northern Regional Police Command on Thursday, 16 August 2018 after he refused to honour an invitation from the police who had earlier visited his house and left a message for him to report at the police station.

He admitted to being part of the group that besieged the TTH.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Northern Regional Police Command, DSP Yusif Tanko, told Class91.3FM that they got information that “Baba Alhassan was around his place of abode. We quickly organised men, and truly when we went, we had him arrested. We have gotten him to the police station and he is assisting us with investigations.”

He said they are investigating charges of assault, unlawful entry and offensive conduct.

Meanwhile, the suspect has rendered an apology to the hospital and the public for the misconduct.
