UEW Vice-Chancellor, 4 others sacked

Professor Mawutor Avoke, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, has been removed from office by the Governing Council of the university.

Four other principal officers of the institution: Finance Officer Dr. Theophilus Senyo Ackorlie; Daniel Tetteh, Mary Dzimey and Frank Owusu Boateng, have also been sacked.

The decision follows an emergency meeting on Monday, 13 August.

They were interdicted in July 2017 by the UEW Governing Council to allow for investigations after it emerged that some vital documents in some offices that were under probe, had gone missing.

In January 2018, their lawyers wrote to the University Council, demanding their immediate reinstatement.
