“We will abolish traffic light SHS system”- Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama Monday reiterated his resolve to abolish the double-track education system in Senior High Schools when elected to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the 2020 general elections and eventually grabbing power back for the Party.

“We don’t like the traffic light system. We will abolish it. We will work so hard that all our children will be in school,” he said.

Mr Mahama said this when he met delegates and constituency executives of Ho West at Dzolokpuita in the Ho West District, as part of his six-day campaign tour of the Volta Region, ahead of NDC’s presidential primaries on February 23, 2019.

He said NDC had an enviable record in education and infrastructure and would complete all senior high school projects it started to accommodate all students and abolish the track system.

Mr Mahama said the 2020 general election was not a “try and see” venture and urged the delegates to vote for him to win power back for NDC.

“This is the best opportunity to win power back. You know there’s only one person the NPP fears and that is JM, so let’s unite and work hard for victory,” he stated.

The former President lamented situations where past NDC governments failed to reward hardworking party members and said his next government would reward all those who work hard to bring the Party back to power and charged the Constituency executives to keep good record of people working for the Party.

Mr Mahama who earlier engaged traditional authorities in the Constituency is scheduled to meet delegates of the Party in Afadjato South, Hohoe, Buem and Akan constituencies today.

He will tour all constituencies in the Region in the six-day campaign exercise.
