‘We’ll bring back your girls, but investigations take time’ – W/R Police

The police command in Takoradi, Western Region, has said it is determined to find the three girls kidnapped in the regional capital since August last year but urged the public to be patient with the law enforcement agency since criminal investigations take time to get unravelled.

The public and the media have been mounting pressure on the police to find the girls.

The abductees are 21-year-old Priscilla Blessing Bentum, last seen on 17 August 2018; 18-year-old Ruth Love Quayson, last seen on 4 December 2018; and 18-year-old Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, last seen on 21 December 2018.

At a press briefing on Wednesday, 23 January 2019, the Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Vincent Redeemer Dedzo, said the police is on top of the matter, adding that the police are doing their job out of the public domain since they are dealing with sophisticated criminals.

He said: “Since we’re doing more of these things, the criminals are also listening to whatever we will be discussing. Let us not think that people do not listen to whatever is happening in this country.

“They go online to read the news and these kidnappers are professionals. When they realise some people have been arrested, they may go away and not come back to Ghana, but we can say we are making efforts and I know we will get to the bottom of this.

“For those who don’t know our procedures, you’ll be thinking it should happen tomorrow, but it is never done like that. Criminal investigations are a gradual process…”
