Wuogon Shooting: No death recorded – Police

No death has been recorded in Thursday’s shooting incident at La-Bawaleshie during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed.

Six persons were, however, injured in the course of the melee.

The Police, in a statement, said calm has been restored to the area and the six injured persons are responding to treatment at the Legon Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital.

The statement further noted that the Inspector General of Police has directed the Director-General/Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to speed up investigations into the incident.

The general public, especially voters and residents of the constituency, have been encouraged to remain calm and go about their duties freely without fear, as more police officers have been deployed there to ensure law and order.

The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) boycotted the elections as a result of the shooting.
